Thomas Edison and Henry Ford's winter homes along with Edison's impressive botanical gardens and research lab. In 1927, Edison and Ford, along with Harvey Firestone funded research to find a rubber plant that would grow quickly in the U.S., as the three feared about the U.S.'s dependency on foreign rubber.
