A Masked Affair: "Back in the Big Apple"

The Season Premiere! It's finally here. The RHONY ladies are back with fresh haircuts and offering a glimpse into their life mid-pandemic. This is what reality TV was made for.

We enter first with ex-Countess Luann. She has an assistant that could be interchanged with Sonja's intern and I don't think Sonja or Lu would even notice the switch. If producers were running out of COVID story ideas, this parent trap situation could have been a good B plot. Lu's take on the "new" COVID safety guidelines is referring to a trip to the supermarket as a "masked affair" and calls all masks a fashion faux pas. We cut to Ramona Singer walking on the streets of New York talking to her dog, Coco, and delivering exposition in a one-way conversation with her pooch, like the true pro she is. She arrives at Lu's new digs and we find out Lu sold her upstate home for her apartment, with "coincidental" panoramic views of ex-hubby Tom's penthouse terrace. Lu and Ramona gossip about Sonja being MIA and I feel a Lumona v. Sonja feud brewing.

And the most anticipated entrance: Eboni K. Williams. Former Fox News host, and total boss, Eboni joins Leah outdoors, where Leah gifts Eboni a resting b*tch face mask. Eboni comments that an RBF keeps you wrinkle free and as someone with an RBF, I have had a similar philosophy.

Much to everyone's dismay, Sonja Morgan is back in the townhouse. She calls Leah, both women in the bath in their own homes, and Eboni's first townhouse invite is extended. Nothing more fabulous than Lady Morgan running her life from a clawfoot tub.

Next we see Eboni and her sister at Eboni's apartment. Eboni opens up about her life, her careers, yes plural, and talks openly about getting her car repossessed. Anyone who can open up this quickly about embarrassing things in their past, that they don't technically have to divulge on their first episode of reality TV is born for it. Kuh-dooz to Bravo for this perfect fit.

We finally land at what I believe to be brunch at the townhouse. Sonja comments her table setting has a runner that looks out of place and she is right, as always. A table set for 5 is not long enough for a runner. While Eboni and Leah arrive, Sonja is power washing her garden as only a professional could. The three of them give off good energy together. Lu and Ramona arrive, seemingly the new power duo, and we start the season with a civil meal. Leah and Ramona are getting along, and the cheers and wink they give one another makes me wish they were the power duo. We also discover Sonja pronounces caramel, "carmel", and don't be fooled, this is news. Lumona calls out Sonja for being MIA and Sonja responds with "I was alone in the desert, wandering." which is how I, too, will be responding to similar inquiries.

We end with the ladies leaving Sonja on a high with intermittent flash forwards, flawlessly turning into the rest of the Season 13 trailer.
