Mind Massages: "Burning Up"

The ladies are back! The second episode of Season 13 of the Real Housewives of New York opens at Eboni's were Leah comes in wearing a gigantic pink bow on a sweatshirt.

Eboni discusses, (again) that she and her former fiancé broke up because he quarantined with his children and not her. Leah and Eboni discuss Sonja sizing Eboni up and Ramona acting too chummy too quickly during Sonja's brunch on last week's episode.

We move to Sonja Morgan telling a barking Marley he needs to heal. She invites Alita, a healer over to rid her of the guilt she’s been feeling after moving back into the townhouse. The healer tells her she’s brought her crystals and apparently not the one's from Portugal, those can be found on her ceiling. There is lots of talks about self care, which is includes and is not limited to desert wanderings and colonics. Sonja breaks down as she discusses all the failures in her life and her regrets. Most devastatingly, that she questions whether she should have stayed and “shut up and put up” in her marriage to JPM in order to give her daughter more in life. Alita then gives Sonja a glass dildo and with thumb cymbals cleanses her energy and closes their session.

Next we cut to the ladies packing for the Hamptons and the Burning Man themed dinner Leah is throwing at Ramona's. Ramona is fixing up her Hampton’s home to host the ladies for 5 days. She’s arranging flower bouquets in full Burning Man hair pony with feathers. Leah and Eboni arrive and tour the house to see the set up for the evening’s dinner and we are treated to a fortuitous flashback of Leah tossing lit tiki torches in Ramona's backyard from the season before, with Sonja yelling “The Burning Man!” As previewed, Ramona calls her hospitality directors by the wrong names and says “I get my help wrong.” We see Eboni and Leah react but they do not confront Ramona. Ramona reveals she had met Heather and Lu the other day and that Heather would be joining them in the Hampton’s for 3 days. Ramona also reveals she has google alerts on Luann. Leah vocalizes a disdain for Heather without knowing Heather due to Heather speaking ill of Sonja, Lu and Ramona in the press.

Lu arrives and we get a flashback to Ramona introducing Lu and the world to “the lower level”, which she will not be staying in this trip. Ramona goes outside to check the pool temperature; she wants at a reasonable 95 degrees Fahrenheit. With the pool at 85, we see dynamic duo Ramonja in action fixing the pool heater, yelling out for blown fuses, and assaulting the pool heater into submission. Miraculously, Sonja fixes the pool and this ladies and gents is what those interns are learning at the townhouse.

We then move to the ladies getting ready for their Burning Man themed dinner. Sonja is helping Ramona get her crystal pasties in place. We are treated to my favorite thing Ramonja does: Sonja and Ramona describing something they admittedly don’t know anything about. “Desert, 'Alowaska', and some shit” is how they described Burning Man. We see Leah, who claims to be dressed like Mad Max meets Coyote Ugly, but really looks more like Matthew McConaughey’s character from Magic Mike ran into a disco ball full of glitter. Sonja has crystal pasties on her belly button under sheer lingerie, a fur vest and a fedora adorned with several feathers. Eboni looks straight out of the 80s in leather, spiked studded glovelettes, spiked studded jacket, and a high pony. Luann is dressed more for Coachella then Burning Man in a macramé cardigan, black bra top, brown leggings, a Russian winter hat with ear flaps and a turquoise statement necklace. Oddly, Ramona is the most appropriately dressed, wearing crystal pasties under a sheer top with sparkly shorts and black combat boots.

Devi, the healer, (two healers in one episode!) arrives to give the ladies a sound bath. After playing twenty questions with Ramona, Devi has each woman discuss what they would like to heal from and improve on in their lives. Eboni and Leah both discuss the grief of aging grandparents. Lu discusses finding her spirituality and inner voice. Ramona and Sonja want to strengthen their friendships with others. Ramona, in order to extend her family. Sonja, to be vulnerable with her emotions and lean on a support system more. Sonja, speaking on behalf of Public Health, tells the group she used to say she has one foot in the nursing home until she found out they have a high STD rate. Devi then performs reiki on the ladies by humming noises and playing a drum. Lu begins to whistle, Leah screams until she cries. Marley (Sonja’s dog) is traumatized. Ramona thanks Devi and tells her that she feels her mind got massaged.

The ladies sit down for personal pizzas and are entertained by stilt performers dressed as animals. As the ladies dance with performers, Eboni retreats back to her room exhausted by the energy from the group.

The episode ends with Leah, Lu, Sonja and Ramona engaging in a group scream and teases an impending confrontation between Ramon and Eboni.
