Should We Sage?: Putting the Tiff in Tiffany's

The fourth episode of the Real Housewives of New York dives right back into the explosive fight between Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer. As seen in the last episode, Sonja became irate with Ramona's mention of Wells Fargo’s better interest rates compared to Chase Co. (JP. Morgan). Sonja sounds off that Ramona has no friends. (Which is crazy because we all know Ramona has 67 close girlfriends.) Ramona leaves the room and Luann de Lesseps follows, with Lu telling Ramona that she knew better than to instigate a reaction out of Sonja, and to avoid talking about JP Morgan related topics. Lu opens up that it’s hard to be around the ladies when they’re drinking and particularly Sonja when having a drunk episode. Lu stays out of the bar, but Ramona returns to the table. The two seem to mend things for now with Sonja leaving the bar telling Ramona “I hate you” and Ramona trying to make light of Sonja keeping the tag on her new blouse.

The next day we open up with Luann twirling a baton like a drum majorette. And both Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams make calls with their family to discuss their respective grandmothers' conditions. We learn Leah's mom is making Leah's siblings spend one on one time with their grandma but not Leah. And Eboni’s mom is having to make a tough decision in regards to Eboni's grandmothers quality of life. We find Sonja and Ramona in bed discussing their fight from the night before. Ramona pushes Sonja to open up about the root of what is bothering her, and discovers that as of late Sonja is feeling left behind and more alone than ever.

Ramona pulls Lu aside to discuss her breakthrough with Sonja, and as Leah moves over to them, Ramona asks for privacy from Leah. Leah takes this as a major offense and goes off on Ramona. In her confessional she blames it on her ailing grandmother as an “open wound” that has left her more sensitive to slights, but really it seems like she’s just looking for a fight with Ramona no matter what. Particularly because when Leah finds Ramona speaking to Eboni, post Lu conversation, she calls Ramona phony.

Garth, Lu's new beau, comes over to give the ladies a workout. They all fawn over him except for Sonja. (And maybe I’m being facetious but I just don’t get it. He’s wearing camo pants…. Anyway.) Sonja does the workout in a down jacket and Eboni abstains completing and opts to get her hair and makeup done instead. Ramona slams her exercise ball calling it Leah and telling it not to be jealous. Leah sits down to get her hair and makeup done with Eboni in the Lower Level and Leah comes up with the idea to take a vow of silence until 6 PM. Because nothing makes good reality TV or proves a point better than miming.

The ladies prepare to leave for oyster shucking and Ramona tries to push her many coats onto the other women. She soon discovers Leah is voiceless and asks if she’s okay and is it “long-G-itis” (laryngitis). As Eboni explains that Leah is taking a vow of silence for self-care purposes, Ramona asks if she should sage the house. (I love that Eboni and Sonja both take the vow of silence seriously, and just move on, and Ramona is totally oblivious that Leah's vow of silence is a desperate attempt to garner a reaction from Ramona.)

In the car, Sonja makes fun of how Garth-obsessed Lu and everyone else is. (But I get it. Manhattan to Southampton is about a 4 hour drive. If Lu was talking to me about Garth the whole way, I would be over it, too.) Sonja makes a comment that Lu was also with her bald guy (Tom) and Lu goes off that they had a one night stand, because Sonja is a one night stand gal and that she (Lu) is the one Tom married, so he's not "Sonja's guy". It’s starting to seem like more and more we’re getting the old Countess back. Eboni steps in to defend Sonja against Lu; reminding Lu that after last nights antics, with Sonja, it’s clear that she has a lowly self image and Lu, as her friend, shouldn’t be saying things like she’s only a one night stand, not datable, with a little brain. Finally it comes out that Sonja is not jealous of Lu but jealous of Garth and wishes she was holding a valued place in her friends’ lives.

The ladies arrive to shuck some oysters. I'm unsure why Ramona thought that the oyster farm would be calming for everyone. Instead she found out what oysters look like fresh out of the ocean and was disgusted. Leah ends her vow of silence 3 hours early to talk more about Heather.

Heather "Holla" Thomson arrives in the Hamptons. Ramona shows her to the Lower Level and Heather can tell that there is tension in the house. Everyone is dressed in the essence of Holly Golightly, of Breakfast at Tiffany's, except Leah, who can’t dress like everyone else, of course. Ramona let’s it go because Leah is in vintage Versace. Luann stirs the pot by asking Leah, in front of Heather, about Leah's podcast (that Leah hasn’t done and episode of in over a year) . Leah takes this as an opening to confront Heather over the things Heather has said about Lu in her podcast. Heather tries to defend it, but Lu and Leah are having none of it. Luann suggests that Heather talking about her badly is to be considered the same as a felony crime charge. She also calls former Housewife Carole Radziwell, Ratsville, who was on the infamous Lu-bashing podcast Heather taped. Much to Leah's chagrin, Heather owns the comments she made on the podcast and clears the air with Lu.

Ramona begins to get upset that the elegant breakfast at Tiffany’s dinner she’s set up continues to have the conversation turn to sex. We see her taking shots alone as she steps away from dinner to talk to Eli, her hospitality assistance for the evening. She is obviously embarrassed as she considers her classy dinner tainted by the vulgarity. This paves the way for (seemingly) next week's episode where we've been teased with Ramona shouting for elegance on her staircase and Leah calling everyone a ho before storming out.
