The 14th episode of The Real Housewives of New York opens at Leah McSweeney’s apartment. Leah FaceTimes Eboni K. Williams while practicing her Hebrew. Leah is going to lead some of the prayers during Eboni’s Black Shabbat.
Ramona Singer is with Michael Lorber, her realtor friend. She is taking one of Michael’s clients through a showing of a multi-million dollar apartment. She even cracks a vertigo joke.
Eboni has Linda, the genetic investigator, over to help her track her father. Linda says that she could find additional family members in a week.
Sonja Morgan is on her date with Bradley. When Devyn, the matchmaker, showed her a picture before their date, she focused heavily on how Bradley didn’t wear socks with his loafers. Their date ends with little sparks and no dessert.
While getting ready for Black Shabbat, Sonja has her assistant google what a Shabbat is. Ramona calls Luann de Lesseps and they keep referring to tonight’s Shabbat as a “Seder dinner.” Leah calls Eboni to let her know that she’s been exposed to COVID-19 and has to quarantine, missing the in person Shabbat to zoom call into it. Eboni has a sprinter van collect the women because they’re traveling to New Jersey for Black Shabbat. Ramona calls out Leah’s Zoom as being weird. After their 70 minute car ride, Lu pelts the women with snowballs. Eboni’s Jewish friend Archie is hosting Black Shabbat. Eboni’s friends Dionne, Brian and Linara are already there. (They seem very unprepared and too nice for this crowd.) Ramona picks apart Archie’s tablescape. The cocktail of the night is a margarita. Sonja reveals that when she got married they announced their relationship when they sent out their wedding invitations. Before they sit down for dinner, Ramona begins to turn the conversation towards herself. Leah keeps complaining from her virtual seat about her participation level in the dinner. Ramona suggests lowering Leah’s voice. Ramona shares that she was converting to Judaism at one point because her fiancé was Jewish but she ended it when he didn’t appreciate, nor acknowledge her sacrifice. (Very Sex and the City.) Sonja is rooting hard for Leah’s conversion. As Archie and Eboni begin to reflect on their experiences of racism and antisemitism, Ramona begins to derail the dinner, with everyone jumping in on her, she excuses herself to the bathroom. When she returns, she simultaneously apologizes and derails the conversation once again. Brian “bottoms up’d” his margarita and leans into Dionne to share he needs another. Leah makes Eboni take her into another room to complain about Ramona. Ramona is hungry and begins to scavenge for food in the kitchen. The show ends with the rest of Black Shabbat to be continued.
