Girl, You Know I'll Go to Jail for You: Best of Frenemies

The women of Salt Lake City, Utah are back for their second season! The first two minutes foreshadow all the Jen Shah legal drama. We see her get a phone call tipping her off to the impending arrest, and she makes a break for it, prompting Heather Gay to ask if Jen is on the run?!

Draw back to 2 months before this: Murilo, Jen's, 2nd shah-ssistant prepares for Lisa Barlow to come over to Jen’s new house. The lease for the Shah Chalet was up so they’ve moved to Shah Chalet 2.0. Jen shares that Coach Sharrieff Shah wanted to get a divorce after feeling that he wasn’t a positive influence in Jen’s life. Especially after seeing her angry outbursts over the last year. They’re now in couple’s therapy. Lisa says her mission is to broker peace between Jen and Meredith Marks to save both her friendships with the women. Jen foreshadows her own impending federal case by telling Lisa she’d go to jail for her, and adding, “I haven’t gone to jail yet.”

Meredith also has a new house. She’s at home putting a sweater on her dog, Teddy. Heather is coming over to see her new place. Meredith updates us that her and her husband Seth have decided to start fresh at a new house with better views. Heather says her daughter Ashley is trying to choose a college to attend and Heather wants her daughter to be the “good time girl” Heather was accused of being (by Lisa) but never was.

Whitney Rose's adult stepsons are over and they do a shot-ski. She notes that she (34) is closer in age to them (29, 26, 23) than she is to her husband (52). Whitney is launching a skin care line to help treat acne. She is wearing an infamous Brook Marks tracksuit. Whitney thinks that by her stepsons seeing her work hard and play hard that she is a good model for them. Whitney drops her stepson’s birthday cake on the floor and then lights all the candles. She bends down to get the plates and drops the cake, with lit candles, for a second time. She smooshes it back into the cake stand and presents it to her family.

Mary Cosby has arrived in the studio to record her podcast, "Talkin Facts with Mary Cosby". (I would like to note: I have looked for the podcast and cannot find it where podcasts are found. Googling has provided no answers, either. And so the search continues...) In her confessional, Mary says her husband and former step-grandpa, was stuck in Florida for 6 months during the pandemic. She also reveals that she began talking to herself and the mannequins in her closet. Mary is scared for her son. She also reveals she used to smoke marijuana.

We meet Jennie Nguyen, the new housewife and longtime friend of Lisa. Jennie is a Vietnam War Refugee who came to Long Beach, CA at 7-years old. Her husband, Duy, is a chiropractor and has a session in their lower level with Lisa's oldest son, Jack. Jennie thinks her husband's face is just okay.

Jen is hosting her entire family for the weekend. Her Aunt comes over, smelling of Louis Vuitton perfume, and not hospital. Jen shares that her family now circles around her and Coach Shah now that her father has passed.

Heather, Whitney, Meredith, and Mary are meeting at the Boneyard for lunch to eat in COVID igloos. Mary is the first to arrive. She makes conversation with herself until the other women arrive. Meredith tells the women her father passed away. The conversation turns to Jen and Lisa when Heather tells the women she hasn't spoken to Jen since the reunion. Heather says she stays friendly with Jen because she craves Jen's friendship juice. In her confessional, Mary thinks the friendship juice metaphor is gross and believes Heather makes the choice to stay friends with Jen. Whitney asks Meredith if she's mad that Lisa has become friends with Jen. Meredith says no, reasoning that Jen probably needs a friend. Meredith wants an apology from Jen for her family. Jen has been liking homophobic digs at Meredith's son Brook on social media.

Meredith is hosting The Barlow's for Shabbat. Lisa and Meredith begin to discuss the lunch Meredith had with the other women. Meredith tells Lisa that Heather talked about apologizing to her and Lisa uses this opening to ask if Meredith is willing to be open to Jen. Meredith begins to grow irate as Lisa tries to justify Jen's actions and defend Jen's actions. Lisa tells Meredith that they have been hurt in the same way. In her talking head, Meredith puts to rest the idea that Lisa can equate her (Lisa's) beef with Heather to Jen going after Meredith and her family for the last two years. Meredith goes on to say that Lisa denies seeing anything on social media that Jen has done, and when she offers to send Lisa the screenshots, she's tells Meredith that she doesn't want them. Meredith thinks this is an excuse to not deal with the realities of a friendship with Jen being a betrayal of the friendship they have together. The episode closes with the replay of this season's trailer.
